Violette Pinot Pinot Noir 2015 qalib

This wine will be called "Great Green Horse Trail" at some point in the VDP. A vineyard made entirely from a selection masalle from Vosne-Romanée, as is otherwise the case in Germany with Fritz Keller and Bernhard Huber from ancient vines. The nose stunned. The organically managed vineyard never produces a yield of over 30 hectoliters per hectare without any restrictions. Extremely small berries, which tend to run towards currants. The nose is phenomenally good, but also phenomenally amazing. Rosehip, sloe, smoke, boiled cassis, extremely black cherry, red currant, a little juniper, laurel and maybe even a hint of papaya in the nose. Slightly peppery. The mouth amazes just like the nose. You don't even know where you are. It is definitely not super typical for Pinot Noir, but we simply have fruit components such as rosehip, sloe, cassis and currant in the foreground and black cherry comes at the bottom with a lot of pressure. Méo-Camuzet? This is definitely a wine that you would never put in a blind tasting in Germany. It's Burgundy, but you're looking for a slightly weird producer who does such focused and concentrated things. I think a large part of this specific story is because half of it was fermented spontaneously with black horse. If you want to accuse the wine of anything, it is that it is so young and still relatively solidly kissed by the wood. It just takes 5 or more years to get into a pleasure phase. Fine smoke, peppery notes at the end, somewhat floating. Definitely an enrichment for the German Pinot Noir, even if it is in the total tension and inner density maybe the really great Pinot Noirs by Friedrich Becker below. If Friedrich Beckers Heydenreich is a Musigny Grand Cru, the violet is definitely a super fine, polished and extremely playful Premier Cru from Chambolle Musigny or Gevrey Chambertin. It has very fine, feminine notes. It is one of the most outstanding large specimens of the new German red wine glory, the wines that are beginning to drive away the great Burgundians.
