Vacheron Sancerre Belle Dame 2014
Velvety soft cherry on the nose, supportive red currant, but also sweet wild strawberry. Slight overtones of vanilla, herbal laurel leaf and red meat behind. Very beguiling and engaging. Immediately impressive minerality in the mouth, the fruit has to work its way. Then the cherry is full, with rhubarb and even liquorice notes. The acidity is elegant and extremely mouth-watering. Full body, very lining thanks to a precisely ground tannin structure. Rounding off coffee and roasted aromas. Wow, what a wine. Incredibly fine, but also with pressure and a very charismatic presence. Balanced, juicy and simply round. Pinot does not necessarily have to come from Burgundy, the limestone soils also create a perfect environment here to produce a "Belle Dame".
